Gold and gem set brooch, 1830s

Designed as a lyre decorated with foliate motifs and highlighted with cushion-shaped emeralds and a ruby, later brooch pin.

Emeralds light green, typical inclusions visible to naked eye and under magnification, one stone chipped. Ruby dark red, typical inclusions visible under magnification. Evidence of solder to reverse. Later pin fitting to brooch. Wire work for strings of lyre bent with repair to reverse. Abrasions to mount consistent with age and wear. In good condition.
