Diamond brooch, Early 19th Century

In the form of a Knight in 17th Century style armour with a plumed helmet holding a drum, between pennants, set with pear-, cushion-shaped and circular-cut diamonds, later brooch fitting.

Estimated total diamond weight approximately 4.00-4.50 carats, mixed colours and clarities, stones bright and lively. Quite heavy, weighing approximately 24 grams. Plumage on helmet moves slightly. Abrasions to mount consistent with age and wear. Set in silver and gold. Later brooch pin to reverse. In good condition.

These brooches were given as a military trophy and also as a sign of love.
