Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate. Condition: This work is in good condition overall. There is wear and frame rubbing around the edges of the canvas, with small rub marks in places. There is sporadic stable tension cracking along the left and upper turnover edges of the canvas. There are several small white rub marks to the canvas: one to the lower centre of the composition between the largest figure's legs; one to the lower left corner; and one beneath the right section of the top edge. There is a minute speck of paint loss towards the upper right corner and tiny media accretion towards the upper left corner. There are scattered horizontal surface irregularities to the canvas weave in places, most notable at the centre of the left edge. There is a thin are several small spots that fluoresce when examined under ultraviolet light, although these do not appear to be retouching but original to the work.
