Provenance
By repute acquired for 125 Old Church Street, Chelsea, the former London residence of the Sachs family. This address was the London home of the great ceramiscist William de Morgan (1839-1917) and his artist wife Evelynn (1855-1919).
Condition
This is a very decorative piece. There is much surface dirt throughout the painting. At the bottom right of the painting there are clear signs that wax has been spilt. Slightly right of centre there has been a significant repaired tear. The canvas has been cut at the edge and this painting has clearly been relined. There is also a slight tear shown below the left side of the cherubs' knee.
