Catalogue Note
Since their foundation in 1830 Christofle have always pioneered innovative Contemporary design. Quick to pioneer the latest design influences, this lot reflects the late 19th century fascination with 'the East' and the highly fashionable Japanese taste, called 'Japonisme'. One of their most talented designers was Emile Reiber (1826-1893) who produced work in this style.
