Catalogue Note

This elegant and soberly styled bureau plat or writing table, looks to the work of Royal ébéniste Jean-Henri Riesener for inspiration. It particularly recalls the official furniture he produced during the Ançien Régime. A suite of furniture in mahogany was delivered to the Garde-Meuble royal by Riesener between 1770-1780, this group featured fine mahogany veneers with restrained mounts and simple detailing, devices which are reflected in the offered lot.
