Condition

(1) Femme Debout Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate although the paper tone is warmer in the actual work and the chalk is deeper and richer in brown hue. Condition: This work is in good condition. The sheet has been taped to the mount along each edge. There is a shallow crease and a faint line of discolouration running parallel to the upper and lower edges of the sheet. There is a slight discolouration to the paper around the date in the lower right corner. There is a small raised section to the sheet in the upper right corner, and an associated tiny loss. There is a minute black speck, approx. 2cm in from the right edge, and a tiny tear to the sheet below the figure's left thigh. (2) Femme Assise Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate although the paper tone is warmer in the actual work and the chalk is much deeper and richer in brown hue. Condition: This work is in good condition. The sheet has been glued to the backing mount. There are spots of foxing and faint brown stains to the paper: one at the centre of the top edge (visible in the catalogue illustration); one in the lower left quadrant running up to the figure's thigh; one at the elbow in the upper right; and one at the top of the figure's back. There is a tiny loss to the upper right corner and a shallow crease in the upper left corner.
