Catalogue Note

Although Charles Topino is most well known for his intricate marquetry work incorporating a wide range of different woods, he also executed some more somber pieces in mahogany that he decorated with little but well-placed ormolu mounts. Such pieces date from the 1780s and include this table, a bonheur de jour and a demilune console table illustrated Sylvain Barbier Sainte Marie, Charles Topino, Paris, 2005, pp. 140 and 143, respectively.
