Catalogue Note
A very similar cabinet in the Pictorial-style with almost identical borders and similary extensive use of pearlshell with a banana tree and pavillion is in the Chinese Pavillion at Drottningholm, Sweden, thought to date from circa 1670-90. It is discussed and illustrated O. Impey, Japanese Export Lacquer 1580-1850, Amsterdam, 2005, p. 132, fig. 261.
