on shaped oval plinths, centered by four paw feet supporting ionic capitals decorated with flowerheads and dolphins and flanked by fully modeled Renaissance soldiers in armor seated on the ends, rising to rectangular knops applied with salamanders and swags of fruit and flowers, the elongated square column form stems with panels of urns and ribbon-tied flowers and topped by clusters of fruit, and with six scrolling strapwork and foliage branches topped by circular drip pans and campana form sconces.
Condition
wear to high spots, upper part of seated figures on one no longer bolted on; one could use very slight straightening, otherwise good, impressive scale and unusual early design
