Description

Condition

Tortoiseshell and brass-inlaid top later; gilt bronze mounts with minor loss to one corner, oxidation and some rubbing. Ebony with fine cracks and minor losses at edges. Tortoiseshell with minor losses, fine cracks and some small restorations; not extensive. Now with thin clear varnish. Hanging giltwood gallery probably later. Base with restored breaks to stretcher and to some carving at extremitites. Scattered old worm damage to feet resulting in loss to wood. One foot retipped, finial of stretcher later. Scattered abrasions, cracks and chips to gesso. Redecorated, gilding and paint with rubbing, losses and some surface dirt. In good condition.
