Condition

There is dirt and wear to the frame consistent with age. The frame has been made in sections and stable joints are visible. Some sections may be replaced, including possibly the brackets at the bottom. There is stable minor splitting to the wood, consistent with the material. There is evidence of past worming throughout, particularly to the reverse at the top where there are losses to the wood due to worming. The gilding and paintwork has been refreshed and there is wear to the gilding throughtout, including minor losses, such as to the bottom of the right column. Some of the flowers in the coffers are loose and the bottom left flower is lost. There are a number of pins and a hook to the reverse. Otherwise the condition is good. The velvet lining is in good condition with minor dirt and wear. Overall the condition of the ivory corpus is good with dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. The arms have been carved separately; there are stable open joints here and the arms are slightly loose. The suspended perizonium drape is also carved separately. There are a few small plugs, including to the back of the head and to the suspended perizonium drape. There is slightly visible stable splitting throughout the ivory, consistent with the material, including to the back of the proper left thigh and perizonium. There is a loss to the little finger of the proper left hand. The ivory cartellino is in good condition, but the inscription is faded.
