Description
- Virgin and Child
oil on hardstone, possibly carnelian, in a silver gilt filigree frame set with four agate cameos, two lapis lazuli intaglios, pastes and a later intaglio with a coat of arms

Condition
There is dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age and handling. There are losses to the paint on the hardstone panel. There are minor losses to the gilding throughout. There are some losses to the filigree, including to the top corners of the frame and to some of the flower petals. Some of the flower petals are bent. The filigree has been crushed slightly below the top left corner, visible at the back. There may be a repair to the stem of the surmounting fan at the back. Otherwise the condition is good.
