Catalogue Note

Aurea Alexandrina was a kind of antidote, essentially against apoplexy, of very rich composition, including  gold leaf (Aurea), silver leaf, pearls, powdered ivory, red coral, and myrrhs. It seems to have been called Alexandrina after the physician who invented it.
