drawn in blue and highlighted in yellow lustre with a winged female sphinx, on a tesselated pavement, her paw resting on a shield inscribed "Orelia", within a typical broad panelled border (broken and restored)

Condition

broken into three pieces and restored, some chips and flaking.

Three almost identical dishes are recorded in public collections, one with the arms of Orsini at the Victoria & Albert Museum, London (Museum number C.2173-1910), one with the arms of Senza, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, (see Jorg Rasmussen, The Robert Lehman Collection, New York, 1989, no. 106) ; and a third at Le Petit Palais, Paris (see F. Barbe and C. Ravanelli Guidotti, "Forme e "Diverse Pitture" della Maiolica Italiana",in  La collezione delle maioliche del Petit Palais della città di Parigi, Venezia, 2006, n 81, p. 160)
