Condition
The illustration is too blue in tone. The painting remains on its original canvas and appears in excellent condition throughout, with all the original impasto preserved. Inspection under ultra violet light reveals only scattered retouchings and strengthening in the shadows, most notably in the lower left corner and on the lower right side to and old 6cm damage or scratch. The varnish remains clear and even and the frame is in good order with only a few minor chips.
