  • 26cm, 10 1/4 in diameter
the central boss moulded and picked out in ruby and yellow lustre with the Sacred Trigram, within a sunburst, the border moulded and lustred with leaves and berry branches, the reverse with concentric lines of ruby lustre (some repair)

the rim broken into 12 pieces and restuck.

Catalogue Note

The same border appears on a dish with Mary Magdalene, painted by Maestro Giorgio Andreoli, and dated 1530-1540, see Thornton & Wilson, Italian Renaissance Ceramics, collection of the British Museum, 2007, p. 535, fig. 333. According to them, "bowls like these may have been made for pilgrims".
