Catalogue Note

Complete Capodimonte spirit barrels are extremely rare. G. Morazzoni, J.Levy in 1960 (op. cit., vol. II, p. 343) and then later F. Stazzi in 1972 (op. cit., pl. 143, pp.331,332) illustrated another example which was thought to be the unique complete model. A similar one, but without the animal feet supporting the base, was sold by Christie's London, 15th July 2010, Lot. 643.
