Catalogue Note

The high relief decoration on this teabowl is very rare and can be compared with similar repoussé metal shape ornaments used by the Venetian silversmiths at the same time.

The profile heads on this cup can be compared with the relief bust which appears on the  cup and saucer published by L. Melegati, op.cit, Milan, 1998, n.41, p.134, and on the bowl, n.40, p.30. For a similar model, see G. Morazzoni, S.Levy, op. cit., Milan, 1960, pl.9.
