a spaniel puppy under his arm, wearing a black tricorn hat, bright yellow jacket, long pink-lined red cloak and puce breeches, on a plain rockwork base (some restoration and minor chips)

Condition

left hand, spaniel's ear and edges of hat restored, flat chip to tail of cloak, tiny chip to jacket

Catalogue Note

This figure belongs to the series of boys and girls holding a dog published by A. CarĂ²la-Perrotti, op. cit., Naples, 1986, n.141,142, pp.201,202, but is very rare for the rich quality of the colour palette and the elegance of the suit and hat. A similar figure was sold by Sotheby's Milan, December, 19th, 2006, Lot 294.
