painted with figures in harbour and river landscape within moulded rocaille surrounds, the interior of the cover with a moorish page offering wine to a lady seated in a river landscape, her companion standing behind, the gold mounts with elaborate waves, scroll thumbpiece and chased with wave pattern, later French control marks
