Catalogue Note
This model is afterJoullain's engraving "Habit de Narcisin de Malalbergo". It is mentioned in Reinicke's records as follows "1 Italienische Comödien-Figur, Narcisino Malabergo, in Thon Bossirt" (1 Italian comedy figure, Narcisino Malabergo, modelled in clay".
Narcisin is a cowardly villain who would do anything for money. He is cunning, witty and often makes jokes at the expense of one and all. He has a very good singing voice and this is how Reinicke depicted him: while singing.
