To the naked eye: The painting comes in a relatively good state of preservation. It has been relined a long time ago, that has flatten a bit the material . It comes under a very dirty old varnish in which we see scratches visible in the photograph. We notice a very beautiful material with several pentiment. No visible restoration. Under UV light: The painting appears under a green uniform varnish, very thick. There is a small horizontal restoration in the hair of the Virgin. Two small points of restorations in the blue drapery. Fewdots of retouching in the green drapery of the angel in his sleeve in the center. Few retouchings in the yellow drapery.

Le tableau que nous présentons est à rapprocher d'un dessin de composition très similaire conservé au musée des Beaux Arts d'Orléans et qui provient de l'atelier de Simon Vouet (voir fig.1).
