Condition

The photography is slightly more red than the painting itself. A few minor wear-out dots are visible in the lower left hand part, where the material is thin. A few very minor retouchings dots seem visible under UV light Very good condition.

Catalogue Note

Le sculpteur Pierre-Bernard Prouha (1822 -1888) expose au Salon de Paris en 1855 La muse de l'Inspiration, statue en marbre pour la cour du Louvre. Un buste de Jongkind par Prouha est  conservé au Musée Hector Berlioz à la Côte Saint-André.
Notre tableau est probablement une étude pour  l'un des personnages du tableau Marché aux fleurs, boulevard Richard Lenoir, Paris peint en 1855 (Cf. Adolphe Stein, op. cit. p.107, n°150).
