Catalogue Note

With an Extract from the Archives confirming the date of manufacture in 1912 and subsequent sale on May 26th, 1926.

Arriving less than two weeks before the event, the present watch No. 157427 was given by Henry Graves, Jr. to his new son-in-law Reginald H. Fullerton on the occasion of his marriage to Gwendolen Graves on June 5, 1926. Gwendolen, Graves' only daughter, walked the aisle with her 10 bridesmaids to meet Reggie Fullerton at the altar at St. Thomas's Church on Fifth Avenue in New York City. One can imagine Fullerton patiently waiting in front of church full of the New York's society with his new prized watch quietly ticking in his vest pocket.

When activated by pushing down on a small button set within the crown, the trip repeat chimes the hours, quarters, and minutes on demand powered by the second train within the movement. As opposed to traditional repeaters that strike on demand via a spring-driven slide on the side of the case, trip repeaters allow the user to elegantly and effortless sound the repeater with the light push of a button.

The trip repeating complication is exceedingly rare for Patek Philippe's production and the presently offered watch is among the earliest known Patek Philippe watches purchased by Henry Graves, Jr.
