Condition

Lovely example of a Ref. 565 with Breguet numerals, minor oxidation to the dial, particularly at edges, case with good patina reflecting that it has not been subjected to over polishing, movement good and in going order. The strap of this watch contains endangered species; please see Important Notices for further information.

Catalogue Note

With an Extract from the Archives confirming the date of manufacture in 1946 and subsequent sale on December 23rd of the same year.

This Ref. 1543 appears to have been modified with lugs that are similar to the Ref. 1590, most likely by the special request of Henry Graves, Jr. The Ref. 1543 was launched in 1942 in yellow gold and in pink gold and was still listed in production as late as 1950.  Less than 30 examples in yellow gold are known to exist. The Ref. 1590 was launched in 1944 in yellow and pink gold and also listed in production as late as 1950. Less than 20 examples of this reference are known to have survived.
