Description

- PHOTOGENIC (HANDS WITH FLOWER)
- Ferrotyped gelatin silver print
ferrotyped, signed with a stylus on the image, the photographer's 'Hillsboro, N. C.' credit stamp on the reverse, circa 1950
Provenance
Patricia Laligant Gallery, New York, 1999
Condition
This ferrotyped print is in generally good to very good condition. In high raking light, occasional pitting of the surface is visible, as is typical of ferrotyped prints. Also visible in raking light are the following: a number of tiny-to-small creases (the largest measuring one inch) overall, some from handling, which appear to break the emulsion; and various soft impressions and surface scratches that do not break the emulsion. These disturbances are not immediately apparent when viewing the print from a normal distance. The print is trimmed to the image, and the edges are chipped.
On the reverse of the print in the corners are 4 yellowed deposits of glue, one of which partially obscures the photographer's credit stamp. Along the lower edge, indistinct, partial notations in pencil are visible.
