Condition

The annotation on the reverse reads 'Mention obligatoire - Photo Florence Henri.' Most of this annotation is in pencil, but the photographer's name has been written over the pencil in ink. This early print, somewhat warm-toned print on matte-surface paper that has been flush-mounted to thin board, is in generally very good condition. The edges are somewhat rubbed, and there are tiny, barely noticeable losses at the periphery of the print. Where the edges are light in color, there has been a very slight warm tonal shift. The upper left corner is creased. When examined in raking light, small areas of original retouching are visible in the lower left quadrant, as well as in the sitter's face, near her eyes and lower cheek. The lower lashes have been painted in, probably with gouache. The reverse is lightly soiled, and here are abrasions, as well as paper and adhesive remains in the corners. These notations are in pencil on the reverse: 'FM35812' and 'A6gyl-118.'
