Condition

These striking stereoscopic daguerreotypes show a seated nude woman in an erotic position, her draped head obscuring her face. The plates are in essentially excellent condition, and show a great deal of detail throughout. An uneven, thin border of tarnish follows the passé-partout shape. There are a few tiny starburst-shaped areas of tarnish, primarily on the left plate, at the sitter's knee. These issues do not diminish the fine quality of this image.Affixed to the glass in the lower left corner is a small white label with '01263 / 25-' written in an unidentified hand in pencil. The stereograph has been re-sealed and re-backed. On the reverse in the right corner, there is a small typed letterpress label: 'Sammlung / UWE Scheid' (letterpress) and '1.065' (typed).
