Condition

In the mid to late 1890s, Druet made a series of images of Rodin's small bronze The Clenched Hand (1885). Druet, who owned a bar across the street from Rodin's studio, produced a number of photographs of Rodin's sculptures. In the artist's 1900 retrospective in Paris at the Exposition Universelle, Rodin included more than 70 of Druet's photographs of his sculptures. This warm-toned early print, on paper with a very matte-surface, is in generally excellent condition. Upon very close examination, 2 tiny white deposits of indeterminate nature are visible in the upper right quadrant. The secondary mount is unevenly trimmed along the upper and left edges. There are scattered, small rust-colored deposits on the secondary mount. On the reverse of the secondary mount are various reduction notations in pencil.
