Laid down. An old horizontal fold in the center of the sheet. Some rubbing and scattered foxing. Light brown staining near her face and some staining at the right and left margins. Some surface dirt. A tiny hole at the level of her hip on the right side of the sheet. Red chalk remains fairly fresh.

Although the author of this impressive figure study must have been closely influenced by Rubens, a precise attribution has not so far proved possible.
