Catalogue Note
The present drawing appears to be an early preparatory study for part of the ceiling decoration in the Church of SS. Annunziata, Trento. Fontebasso was commissioned to decorate some of the interior of the church in 1736, and this particular study relates to his fresco, Fall of the Rebel Angels, in the apse of the vault (fig.1). The study does not correspond exactly to the final design but the general positioning of figures and structure are easily recognizable.1
