Condition

This painting is in good condition overall, as is the canvas, which is clear and taut. Paint layers and brushworks are well preserved. There are pin-sized spots of media accretion in the lower middle register, on the white dress and traces of liquid brown accretion on the middle left (on the white sleeve). There is a scratch on the thigh and associated paint loss, slightly vertical (approximately 2.1 cm). Examination under ultraviolet light indicates no evidence of retouching. The colors are softer and more pastel in reality. The figures' skin tones are much fairer than the catalogue illustration. Framed, with gilded, carved, and European frame.
