A graphic designer turned painter, Dipo Andy is influenced by the Pop Art movement, and above all, its godfather, Andy Warhol. The series of portraits amassed here of prominent figures from popular culture - from politics to the arts - seek to reinterpret the iconography of Pop Art. While his visual vehicle pays homage to Andy Warhol, his emphasis is not on the celebrity culture but on the merits and characteristics that made these leaders popular in their respective roles.
