Condition

The panel appears sound. There are some minor losses to the paint surface at the edges due to frame abrasion. There is a layer of surface dirt, some minor surface scratches and flecks of paint loss in places. UV light reveals no apparent signs of retouching. Held in a simple wooden frame. Unexamined out of frame.

Catalogue Note

The present lot was purchased from the artist whilst he was in the South of France. With the money he received from the sale of his pictures, Gluckmann was able to finance his emigration to the United States.
