Catalogue Note
The late 1920s and early 1930s were a golden age for printed Soviet graphic art, marking a period when Constructivism finally became self-aware as propaganda art. A contemporary of El Lissitsky (1890-1941) and Alexander Rodchenko (1891-1956), Vladimir Shtranikh was a prominent graphic artist whose dynamic posters, book and magazine covers and newspaper designs are superb representations of the genre. Za Industrializatsiyu was the official newspaper of the Supreme Council of the National Economy.
