Catalogue Note

TWO BALLET DESIGNS FROM THE COLLECTION OF SERGE LIFAR (1906-1986)

'Modern painting became a passion with me. I was not satisfied to see it at the Ballets Russes, in exhibitions, or in the studios of artists; I was soon taken with the desire to have constantly around me, under my eyes, the things I loved. This is how I decided to form a collection of my own'  - Serge Lifar, 1933
