Condition
The sheet has discoloured. There is a deep scratch to the card approximately 10.5cm in length to the lower left corner. There is a faint scratch to the surface along the upper left edge and a minor scratch to the tankard on the lower right hand edge. The colours have slightly faded. Held in a wooden frame under glass.

Elena Samokish-Sudkovskaya produced numerous illustrations for turn of the century journals such as Niva and Probuzhdenie, but is best-known for her book illustrations which included Dead Souls, Konek-Gorbunok, and several works by Alexander Pushkin.
