Catalogue Note

Based on the comic French opera Les amours champêtres, Maiskaya koroleva was staged at the Mariinsky Theatre, St. Petersburg on 30 January 1919. Golovin’s sets and costumes perfectly embodied its lighthearted, pastoral theme.
