Condition
The sheet has discoloured and there is an area of adhesive staining in the centre of the lower edge. There is a small tear running horizontally from the lower right hand edge. Minor handling marks and smudges are visible. Held in a gold painted wooden frame and under glass. Unexamined out of frame.

The offered lot is most likely a preparatory sketch for the large portrait in oil from 1907 in the collection of the Karelia Fine Arts Museum (fig.1).
