Condition

The canvas has been lined. There is a layer of surface dirt and prominent lines of craquelure throughout, notably in the upper half, which are visible int he catalogue image. There are minor flecks of paint loss to the lower corners and and a small fleck of paint loss to the sky near the right edge. Some cleaning has apparently been done across the upper left edge and the painting would benefit from a full surface clean. There are small flecks of media staining to the left of the sail. UV light reveals uneven layers of opaque varnish. Held in a white and gold painted frame with mouldings. Unexamined out of frame.
