Condition

The canvas has been lined. The paint surface is dirty. There are spots of paint loss in the top left and bottom left corners with further minor abrasions and flecks of paint loss to the lower part. There is a very minor undulation to the right of the first mast. The varnish has discoloured. UV light reveals a few minor spots of retouching and infilling to the sky, with further spots of old retouching to the lower inner frame edge. A layer of opaque varnish prevents from further examination. Held in a gold painted wooden frame. Unexamined out of frame.
