Condition
The board is a bit dirty, in line with age. There are some minor areas of craquelure, including in the sail of the boat and the figures. Held in a wood frame with plaster molding and under glass. Unexamined out of frame.

Executed circa 1899, the offered work is believed to be a sketch for Volkhov, formerly in the collection of Eduard Napravnik, which is illustrated in Baltrushaitis' monograph on Roerich published in 1916, p.20.
