Condition

The boards are worn and stained with losses to the corners and creasing. The sheets have discoloured and are partially loose from the sky. The corners of the paper are dirty and creased. There are spots of foxing to the sheets.

Catalogue Note

This 1904 edition of Benois' An Alphabet in Pictures was published by the Expedition of State Papers. It was printed using the most progressive four-colour printing technique available at the time, which was considered the best way of reproducing watercolour illustrations.
