Tamara Malinina, former Curator of Russian Glass at the Hermitage, has published several examples of so-called "Persian style" decoration created at the Imperial Glass Manufactory between 1860 and 1880. This ornately decorated example is of particular interest because such designs are only occasionally to be found painted on opaque glass, particularly this rare shade of celadon green.
