This charming landscape is in a very good condition. The colours are slighlty brighter than in the catalogue illustration. Under UV light, we can only observe a small retouche in the lower right corner (in the green of the grass), and one in the foliage of a plam. We can also mention minor repaints in the upper right border and lower left border.

Catalogue Note
Boursier d'Abd-el-Tif en 1920, Paul-Elie Dubois fait un premier séjour de deux ans en Algérie. Ses Femmes arabes au cimetière El Kettar recueillent une médaille d'or et un prix de l'Institut en 1922. La Paix dans la lumière et Musiciens arabes lui valent le Prix national de peinture, attribué pour la première fois à une oeuvre inspirée de l'Algérie. Sa découverte du Hoggar en 1928 avec la mission scientifique de l'université d'Alger marque un tournant important de sa carrière, couronnée par le succès de son exposition personnelle au Pavillon de Marsan à Paris. Il accompagne une nouvelle mission au Hoggar en 1938, y retourne trois fois, rapportant toujours de nouvelles visions (Cf. Marion Vidal-Bué, L'Algérie des peintres, 1830-1960, Paris, 2002, p.282)
