This painting is in overall good condition. Under UV light, we can notice a number of small repaints scattered in the sky, and very few minor retouches scattered in the landscape.

Cette représentation de femmes se dirigeant vers une kasbah est une évocation des aspects du Maroc qui ont fasciné Pontoy : d’une part, l’architecture défensive que l’on retrouve par ailleurs chez de nombreux artistes orientalistes, et d’autre part, la noblesse des tâches domestiques et quotidiennes les plus simples. Appliquant la matière en abondance, l’artiste joue de puissants contrastes lumineux permettant aux murs de la cité de se détacher sur le sol blanc, renforçant sa présence imposante.
