Condition

The canvas has been lined. The surface of the work is in good condition apart from a large irregular area on the drop of the table cloth with a raised texture different from that in the remainder of the painting- possibly an area of restoration, possibly from paint loss. Fine pressed craquelure visible in small areas, most noticeably in the cat at left. Under UV: A few tiny scattered spots of heightening, on the back of the cat's head at right, the dog's ear, the floor to left of the dog, and in the rug at bottom.
