Condition

The canvas has been lined. The surface of the work is in good condition with pressed craquelure throughout. Uneven green varnish visible to the naked eye in the background. Under UV light: Scattered repainting throughout, over an old thick varnish, the painting selectively cleaned around the dog. The top 2 1/2 inches and bottom 1/2 inch of the canvas appear to be later extensions, visible also to the naked eye.
