Condition
The canvas is unlined and undulating slightly. The surface of the work is in fair condition. The background with several abrasions, many poorly repaired. Horizontal stretcher marks at top and bottom. Areas of apparent craquelure in the red table cloth, an area of possible repaired tears bottom left. Fine pressed craquelure and a dirty varnish covering the dog and book. Under UV: Scattered spots of repaint, mostly also visible with the naked eye. The appearance of the work could be substantially improved with lining, cleaning, and retouching. Please consult a professional conservator.
